Drawing Basic proceedure

1. Draw the shape of the object lightly with a 4h pencil. make sure that it is accurate before you move on. If it looks off, most likely it is your Perspective that is off. Step away from your drawing and correct it. Do not go beyond this step until you are satisfied that EVERYTHING is correct.
2. with a 2b pencil ( I prefer Carbon, but use what you have) draw the shape of the shadow.
3. shade in the shadow with an even value of shading than work with your shading pencils ( 2b-6b) to create gradiation in darkness. Do not forget your drop shadows. Also remember that shadow edges are not hard edges but soft.
4. Put in your reflected light. This light is Never lighter than your darkest light.
5. draw the shape of your light. Gradate ( shade in) the light. Do not forget to put in highlights and low lights. The lightest light should never be darker than the lightest shadow.

* It is the contrast between the shadow and the light that creates depth in a drawing.
