Here again after a year
It's been over a year since I last posted. I am almost done with my Associate degree in art and I am passing on to my BFA, in Art with a minor in Physics. In the last year I have become a much better painter and drawer. I have gotten to study under people that I will never forget namely Nathan Ables, Bob Thomas, and Berndt Savig, and even though they were not within the last year, Joseph Miller and Randall Painter. I have also studied under science professors that have inspired me and my work, namely Jennifer Jones, Mark Scruggs, and Lynette Horner. I remember a year ago asking myself if there was anything else other than Art that was worth my time in school. Well I have found out that there is. Everything is relevant. we learn in school about one subject at a time, but in the end they are all connected. Art is Physics and physics is Art. You learn a language because of your culture and your culture has been influenced by other cultures. History is so important to know what the meaning behind that art is. It has been a long hard pull, but there are stories, lessons behind art, there is meaning to each picture that is there if you research. How many actually take the time to research though. I know I didn't, until now. I wanted to be original and not influenced by the art of others. Others teach me the know how of technique and composition ( the physics) , but it is what's in your heart that brings meaning to your work. It is at this stage that you have to ask yourself, can I expose myself enough to share that message with others...Can I? I have my reservations.
